Fly fishing 27th September 2011........

Had a break from photography today and had a superb time at the Meon Spring fishery for a fly fishing experience day - thank you Lynne !
The surroundings are beautiful and the weather perfect - it was my first attempt at fly fishing and it showed ! Many thanks to Keith (Meon Springs Fishery) from the fishery for the patient instruction and amazingly (for me) I managed to land a near 2lb rainbow.....here's a few photos taken by Lynne on the Panasonic LX5....

Sandy beach 14th Sep 2011.........

Out again this evening intending to get a (hopefully) nice sunset shot off the East Winner bank, Hyling Isand looking towards Pompey. As it happens the sunset was only so-so this evening so a little disappointing. Did take these though....

The kite buggy in the picture was a bonus - adds interest. I was chatting to the driver (er...pilot ?) and apparently he got up to a speed of 37 mph this evening - looks pretty exhilarating. Tech details: Nikon D700, 12-24 lens, 1/500 @ f16

Blue September - Cancer Awareness 12th Sep 2011

Spinnaker Tower and Portsmouth Football Club are backing Blue September – an initiative that started in New Zealand and has been brought over to the UK for the first time.
Blue September is aimed at raising awareness of all the cancers that can affect men – including those of the lung, prostate, bowel, and melanoma.
The campaign aims to promote healthier lifestyles to reduce the risk of getting cancer. It encourages men to seek medical advice as soon as possible if they have a worrying symptom. Thought I'd try and get a few shots of the Spinnaker Tower this evening to mark this appeal - very windy and the tripod was being battered around a bit but here's a couple......both fairly blue I guess:

Stansted Slog 4th September 2011.......

Change of sport for today.....and weather ! Photographed the gruelling Stansted Slog today - weather didn't help either with monsoon conditions just after the start ! It looked a very tough course in  - for the first part - awful weather conditions so congratulations to the finishers. Here's a selection from the event - all the photos taken are on my website www.ianburnettphotography.co.uk...remember, 15% of my proceeds go to Portsmouth Joggers so by buying a photo you're also helping your club or their linked charity.

Cricket: West Wellow U15 V New Milton U15 3rd Sep 2011......

Photographed the New Forest U15s cricket cup final today at Langley Manor Cricket Club between West Wellow and New Milton. West Wellow were disappointed to be bowled out for 75 and New Milton eventually, after a couple of scares, won by 5 wickets. The photos (from a West Wellow perspective !) will be up on my website by the middle of next week but here's a few.....
