Meon valley Express

An enjoyable morning spent photographing todays Meon Valley Express at Wickham, superbly organised by Jeff Clarke of Rural Running (and the new Meon Valley Runners club !). Last year whilst photographing the race I got talking to a chap who has lived in one of the old railway cottages along the trail for over 60 years so it was great to see him again today. As last year he took a photo of me again - cheers Ron ! He showed me photos of the Meon valley line steam trains he had taken in the early sixties after Mr Beechings interventions and passed on a few anecdotes such as the mysterious ghost train (runaway freight wagons !) and the D day preparations with the Canadian troops. Good to see you again Ron !
