That was a great night - very busy throughout and the entertainment was top class - the band - Kojaks Revenge- were excellent again. Having seen them in action twice now I must say they really are a top act full of energy and with a really wide range of songs.
The 4 light studio setup worked pretty well again with a constant queue most of the evening - I took the opportunity to grab a shot of my associate Adrian in action - gives you an idea of the setup. Can't quite see her but my daughter Emma was in charge of the sales point, printing the photos on the night. It amazes me that she never looks flustered even with a queue ! Must take after me ! Lol
The venue - No 7 Boathouse, Portsmouth Naval Base - is perfect. It's the Navalbase visitors cafe during the day but for an evening event it transforms. It's a great venue and I'm always pleased when I have an event there - it's spacious and very well organised. As an event photographer I get the chance to see various venues "in action" and how succesful they are and certainly 7 Boathouse takes all the boxes for me.

Well a pretty hectic and enjoyable hour or so today at the family shoots - these are Kai and Oakley who seemed to have a bit of fun once the initial wariness about being photographed wore off
Hoping to have another family shoot on 20th March - not confirmed yet though. Keep an eye on my website for updates:

Family shoots
I'll post a few shots from the shoots on Monday. I'm thinking about doing another family shoot day in March - probably Sunday 20th. If you are interested email me and I'll book you in. There will still be time to get prints for Mothers Day.....which is April 3rd this year (quite late but so is Easter too I guess).
Runningwise, the next two events I'll be at are the B&Q Eastleigh 10k on 27th March and the Fitness First Bournemouth 10k/Half marathon on the £rd April where I'll be working for Sussex Sports Photography. The photos for these events will be on the following website:

Portsmouth Coastal Half marathon 13th February 2011
Great turnout in what were appalling weather conditions. 760+ runners finished and here is the link to the results page:

I was up pretty early driving around the course as I really wanted to station myself at the Thatched House as last years shots from this position were great. Unfortunately I couldn't find any sheltered areas so Plan B went into operation and we remained on the seafront. Mind you I wasn't exactly sheltered at the finish but at least the rain wasn't coming straight into the lens ! Needed several cups of tea to warm up afterwards though....

Family portraits 20th Feb 2011
Hi, I'm new to the art of blogging so bear with me for a bit.......
What's happening:
Mothers Day is approaching - April 3rd if you didn't know - so why not have a family portrait sitting ?
I've booked the Eastney Community Centre Studio all day and will be doing 30 minute sessions. I'm asking for £5 to book but this will be refunded with your first order. Four packages are available to suit all budgets starting at £45 which includes 2 10x8" and 4 8x6" prints ! Give me a ring on 02392 425368 or 07846 710913 to see what timeslots are available. Hurry though, they're going quickly....
Did two shoots on Sunday the Brown and Cheung families - here's a couple of shots from the sessions:
Last Friday I met a group of friends that I used to work with for a walk along the seafront. I took the opportunity to test my new compact camera - a Panasonic Lunix LX-5. Its superb as this shot of the Spinnaker shows - touch of the converging verticals though !! Lol...
